Dave Denight
David Denight is the head coach of the Los Gatos High School Golf team, bringing 7 years of coaching experience to the program. With a deep passion for the game, David is committed to developing well-rounded student-athletes through the cultivation of positive habits of mind, including persistence, commitment, responsibility, and empathy. His coaching philosophy emphasizes skill development, golf etiquette, teamwork, and fostering a lifelong love for the game. David’s ultimate goal is not only to improve players’ golfing abilities but also to instill valuable life lessons that extend beyond the course.
David has had notable success in his coaching career, guiding his players to remarkable achievements. Under his leadership, the team secured the Girls League Championship in 2022 and the Boys League Finals Tournament Championship in 2023. One of his standout players, Nikola Kaminski, went on to play golf at San Jose State University, showcasing David’s ability to develop talent for the collegiate level.
A lifelong golfer, David started playing the sport at the age of 5, and his experience is complemented by his educational background. He holds a Bachelor’s in Social Studies and Education, along with a Master’s in Educational Administration. These credentials have equipped him with the knowledge to lead both in the classroom and on the course.
In recognition of his excellence as a coach, David was named Coach of the Year in 2022-2023, a testament to his commitment and effectiveness in guiding his athletes. Outside of coaching, David enjoys a variety of activities including golfing, diving, mountain biking, and snowboarding. He also takes great pleasure in watching his son play baseball and his daughter play softball, balancing his professional life with family enjoyment.
