Two Santa Clara Valley Athletic League (SCVAL) powerhouses come head-to-head in a showdown. 2024: LGHS 27-0 2024: Milpitas 34-28 2025: LGHS 12-10 2025: LGHS 19-13 Both Milpitas and Los Gatos starting lineups play the club scene together, so while there might be fierce competition during high school season, many players are teammates during the off-season. But no mercy is given as each team defends their titles and high school standings. LG V MERCED At the prestigious MaxPreps Flag Football Showdown in Chula Vista, the 25th-ranked Merced Bears pulled off a stunning 20-12 upset over Central High School (Phenix City, Alabama), effectively ending Central's 62-game winning streak. But the Los Gatos Wildcats just proved they are the real deal, escaping with a thrilling 27-26 road victory over national powerhouse Merced High School last night! Here is what went down in this epic heavyweight battle: * Senior Sophie Riese lands LGHS’s FOUR touchdowns, proving why @49erscalhi named her the SJPD Top Recruit this week. * Junior Taylor Payne seals the Wildcats’ win with a 4th-down pick (her second of the game) with only seconds left on the clock. * Senior Kendall Feitchmeier steamrolled Merced’s offense with multiple blocks and sacks.
