Lily Young blasted a long home run in the second inning to put Los Gatos on the board and tie the game a 1-1, then cleared the bases with a double in the bottom of the fifth to lead Los Gatos to a 4-1 win over Carlmont in the opening round of the Los Gatos-Westmont Varsity Softball Tournament Saturday.

Ava Norquist tossed a complete game to pick up the win, striking out 9 and scattering 5 hits. The sophomore also had two hits.

Young, Norquist and Addie Sorto had two hits each, and Grace Tucker, Tessa Lilienstein, Ria Sharma and Keira Kelly each had one hit.

In game two of the tournament, Los Gatos jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Leigh in the top of the first, then held on for a 2-2 tie.

Olivia Sickels had two hits and scored a run, and Ava Norquist had two more hits, an RBI, and scored a run to lead the offense.

Sophomore Danica DeSantis pitched well, going 4 and two-thirds innings, striking out 5 and allowing just one earned run.

Lily Young, and Kelly had Los Gatos' other two hits.

With the win and a tie, Los Gatos won its flite in the tournament and advances to the Gold Bracket this Saturday. Los Gatos will take on Hollister at 1:45 Saturday. Final game will be played at 5:15.
